Home Sweet Home Kleinschalig Mini Resort

We just spent some days at HSH apartments. I have to say the location is perfect in Jan Thiel, the views are also nice, it gives you peace to sit down in your little porch and look around. The pool was also a big plus, big enough to even swim a little and great to wake up and refresh yourself before going to bed (the little round pool is not a jacuzzi). But in my opinion there are some important things missing which make the quality-price ratio not very accurate since they call it a Mini Resort: - The rooms didn’t seem properly finished, they were quite empty, some night lights next to the bed would also be nice (one room had them, the other didn’t). - The mattress wasn’t very good and the sheets didn’t have “corners” to get properly attached to the mattress so you ended up sleeping on plastic most of the times. - They did have plenty of towels, which was very good. But being white they should pay more attention to it because some of them had some stains. I am sure they were washed, but it doesn’t give you the idea of it being properly clean. - I can kind of understand you don’t provide shampoo/body gel. But hand soap should be mandatory, and even more nowadays with all the Covid situation. A hairdryer would also be great to have. - The big door windows looking towards the patio are beautiful, they give you a lot of light and views, but 0 privacy. I missed some blinds/curtains there. It was quite annoying to me to have to worry about the chance of having other guests walking around the pool area and thus being able to see us from the outside 24/7. - And last but not least, the hot water/electricity costs are not included, they calculate what you used after your stay. This place is a gem! I cannot say enough great things, it simply was made to be for us to stay here and turned out to be exactly what we were looking for. Highly recommend staying here! We stayed here for over a week at the beginning of June 2018. Booked our flight from Toronto to Curacao last minute and were looking for accommodations that were not a traditional hotel or large resort with tons of tourists. We had the pleasure of dealing with Patrick who was just fantastic from the very first e-mail. He went above and beyond for us and we are so grateful. Not one issue or concern throughout our entire stay. Patrick was always available to answer any questions or provide referrals and suggestions. We stayed in apartment 4 which is situated in the back providing some great privacy and an amazing view from the large balcony. The unit is open concept and really nice and spacious. 2 bedrooms and a fantastic living space with floor to ceiling sliding glass doors that open onto the balcony, which is where we spent more of our time when we were in the apartment. The kitchen is a nice size too and is equipped with everything you might need and there’s a washing machine which is a bonus for anyone who travels light. Wifi was included and worked great throughout the apartment and balcony. There is also a nice pool that is shared by all the units and there are a couple barbeques available. Highly recommend renting a car to get around the island and explore some of the other areas and beaches. Patrick provided us with a great referral. Home Sweet Home is located in Jan Thiel which is a nice area and close to everything. The resort is in a safe area with security surveillance; we felt comfortable walking around during the day and night. We like to hike and walk so we still did quite a bit of walking around from Home Sweet Home but driving is optimal. Closest beach and grocery store is under a 20 minute walk. We loved Curacao so much that we shortened our trip to Aruba and stayed longer. We simply fell in love with the island and had a wonderful experience at Home Sweet Home. Already looking to come back later this year. Patrick thank you very much for all of your hospitality, we hope to stay here again!

We had a wonderful experience at Home Sweet Home. Three top reasons to stay here are: 1. Property manager responsiveness. Patrick and Jacco are always available on short notice and correct any deficiencies quickly. 2. Location. The facility is atop a hill down wind from Spanish Waters so there is a constant breeze. You are 150m from the salt ponds trail network where you can walk/run/mtb and if lucky will see the flamingos. 3. Weekly cleaning included. Cleaning staff change bedding, wash floors, etc every Monday. All included in your rental price. Definitely a place to call home when in Curacao.
